Tariffs, Duties & Your Orders – What You Need to Know (Updated August 29, 2025)
We want to be upfront about the recent changes to U.S. import rules so there are no surprises when your order arrives.
What Changed on August 29, 2025:
The U.S. removed the de minimis threshold — the rule that previously allowed most Canadian shipments under $800 USD to enter without duties or extra fees.
Right now, there’s no clear guidance on exactly how U.S. Customs will handle shipments going forward.
What This Means for You (U.S. & Overseas Customers):
-
Tariffs/Duties/Customs Fees: Any import duties, tariffs, taxes, or courier fees charged at the border are the customer’s responsibility. These fees are set by U.S. Customs, international customs authorities, or the courier (e.g., UPS) — not by Natura Soylights.
-
Canadian-Made Products: Our products are made in Canada and may qualify for duty-free status under CUSMA (formerly NAFTA). However, with the recent rule changes, we cannot guarantee that shipments will always be fee-free.
-
Overseas Customers: Most countries already charge duties/taxes on imported goods, and these remain the responsibility of the customer.
The Bottom Line:
-
U.S. Customers: Customs or courier fees may apply to your order, and any such fees will be your responsibility.
-
Overseas Customers: Duties/taxes may apply as usual and are also the customer’s responsibility.
We’ll continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as soon as there’s clearer information. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these changes together.
